📃 Connecting to TurboTax | Altruist
If you're one of the many people that still prepare and file your taxes yourself, and utilize TurboTax to perform this, you may have questions about getting your Altruist tax information entered correctly.
In this article, you can learn how to upload or connect your Altruist profile to TurboTax in order to more easily enter the specifics of your taxable events and values.
In this video, David will show you how to work through getting everything uploaded or connected to your profile if you don't have your statements handy -
If you prefer written instructions then please follow along below -
1. Once you log in to your TurboTax profile navigate to the Federal section along the left pane and from here find the 1099r section. For this example, we did not have any 1099r's to use for an example but the 1099-DIV/INT procedure is the same.
- Click the "Start" button associated with your 1099 type.
2. Next you'll be prompted to input which custodian you'd like to import your 1099's from - in this case use the search field and type in: "Apex Clearing Corp"
3. Click on "Apex Clearing Corp."
4. As you see in the photo below you'll be inputting the Account Number you wish to look up in the Apex User ID field - NOT your Altruist login credentials.
Your Password will be the Social Security Number linked to the account held at Altruist with that account number.
5. Once you've input the needed information select "Connect my Account".
6. If you were successful in getting logged in you will see a list of your available 1099's for that account - after reviewing them you'll scroll down to where you see the button "Continue".
After you click this you'll be loaded into a new page to enter any remaining necessary details and you'll be finished!
