🖥️ Linking Your Bank Account | Altruist

Once your Altruist accounts have been established, you are able to link up your checking or savings accounts for withdrawals or contributions into your investment account(s).

  • It's important to note that EACH INVESTMENT ACCOUNT needs to be linked to your bank, doing the procedure once will not link your bank to all accounts.

  • This applies to those trying to link their bank account using their routing and account number.

From the Apple or Google/Android app:

  • Click the "Transfers" tab in the bottom menu to connect a bank account and initiate new transfers.
  • This feature is only available to clients who have open investment accounts on Altruist and are on version 1.2.1 or higher.
  • You can check what version of the app they have by scrolling to the end of the Settings page and manually update to the latest version from the App Store if you do not have auto-update settings enabled.

From the Altruist website

1. log in to your account and click on your initials in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

2. From here a popout will open, please click on "settings".

3. You will be dropped off on the "profile" portion of the settings menu, you'll need to click on "accounts" outlined in red to get to the section allowing for bank linking.

4. Once "accounts" has been selected you'll see a summary of your open brokerage accounts and then a section where you can select "Add bank" - click this. 

5. The connecting platform that Altruist utilizes is called "Plaid" and is a secure linking platform to help link your bank and your Altruist account, select "Continue".

6. Select the bank that you utilize, for this tutorial we'll be utilizing Wells Fargo.

7. Once you've selected your bank a connection will begin processing, select the continue field where you'll be prompted to verify your ownership of this account.

8. Follow the ensuing on-screen prompts, each bank will be unique in the language and color scheme they use but the procedure will be relatively the same. 

9. Once you've entered your online banking credentials a two-factor authentication will trigger prompting you to verify via phone call, email, or text and provide a security code.

10. Select the accounts you would want to have linked and agree to your financial institutions terms and conditions - then select "Connect"

11. You have now successfully linked your bank account which allows you to make deposits and withdrawals into the accounts you have on Altruist.

For Accounts That Already Have A Bank Account Linked:

1. Begin by logging in to your Altruist account. Once you're logged in successfully, you should automatically be dropped off on the "overview" tab - click it at the top if you are not sure however. From this screen, look to the far right corner, your initials will appear there - CLICK your initials. 

2. After you've clicked your initials, a new screen will slide to the left from the right corner - CLICK the settings link. 

3. A new page will then load in, look for the "Accounts" tab and click on that. 

4. You'll see your list of accounts along the left column, find the account you'd like to link and click on it. 

5. Once you've selected the account you'd like to link your pre-linked bank account to, navigate down to the "Add Bank" link and click on it.

6. Select the bank you'd like to have linked and click the "connect" button.

7. You should now see the new bank linked to your account - your advisor will now push out to you Move Money Authority to set up deposits (contributions) or withdrawals.
